Residents watch a rare leather back turtle being prepared for release at sea in the village of Bolong, east of Zamboanga City, in the southern island of Mindanao on May 19, 2010, after it was trapped on May 18 in a fishing net. The leatherback is the largest, deepest diving, and most migratory and wide ranging of all sea turtles. An adult leatherback can reach 4 to 8 feet in length and 500 to 2000 pounds in weight, is distributed worldwide in tropical and temperate waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, according to the website of the US Fish and Wildlife Service, North Florida Field office.
