British WWII veteran Tony Cannon takes part in a commemorative ceremony on May 30, 2010 in the French northern city of Leffrinckoucke, near Dunkirk, in memory of 80 British soldiers killed by the Nazis in 1940. Pushed back across northern France by the invading Germans, some 338,000 British and French soldiers were rescued between May 27 and June 4, 1940 from the beaches of northern France during the evacuation dubbed Operation Dynamo. A ragtag band of boats that helped rescue Allied soldiers arrived yesterday in Dunkirk to mark the anniversary of the evacuation. AFP PHOTO DENIS CHARLET
