Raymond Wilson, pioneering optics researcher at European Southern Observatory (ESO) speaks during a reception in Oslo on June 3, 2010 after being awarded the 2010 Kavli Prize in astrophysics by the Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters. The million-dollar prize was shared with two American scientists, Jerry Nelson and Roger Angel, all three astrophysicists independently contributed to the development of a new generation of large telescopes that have made many fundamental new discoveries in space.
