FRANCE-US-JUSTICE-VIVENDI-TRIAL
Universal ex-Chief Executive Officer Jean-Marie Messier leaves Paris'' courthouse on June 23, 2010 in Paris, on the last day of the trial of seven former Vivendi SA executives. Ex-Vivendi boss Jean-Marie Messier is accused of misleading the stock market, manipulating share prices and misusing corporate funds in the 2000-2002 period when Vivendi, previously a sleepy French water utility, went on a massive takeover spree. The prosecution did not require any conviction, calling for the release of Jean-Marie Messier and his six co-defendants tried before the Paris Criminal Court for alleged embezzlement at the head of group.
