An aerial photograph shows a forest cleared to dig canal channels in a huge palm oil concession area in Ketapang district on July 5, 2010 in West Kalimantan. Scientists said rapid deforestation and rampant illegal logging is the main reason Indonesia is the world's third-biggest emitter of greenhouse gas emissions, blamed for man-made global warming. Sinar Mas--Indonesia's biggest palm oil firm is awaiting independent audit of its practices by the Netherlands-based Control Union Certification and British Standard institute, the results of which are expected in July. Food giant Nestle said it will resume buying palm oil from Indonesian giant Sinar Mas if the audit clears the Jakarta-based of claims it is devastating rainforest. Nestle dropped Sinar Mas -- as a supplier in March following protests by environmental group Greenpeace, after Anglo-Dutch company Unilever also severed ties this year. AFP PHOTO/ ROMEO GACAD
