PHILIPPINES-TYPHOON
Thousand of commuters are stranded along the main highway in Manila as the capital's overhead railway system was shut down on July 14 2010, after Typhoon Conson hit the heavily populated main island of Luzon with maximum gusts of wind of 120 kilometres (74 miles) an hour. Electricity was knocked out throughout the main island of Luzon, including Manila, where fallen tree branches and other debris littered the streets on July 14. Power company Meralco said on July 14 that more than 90 percent of Manila's 12 million residents remained without power. AFP PHOTO / JAY DIRECTO
