FILES-AFGHANISTAN-CANADA-UNREST

TO GO WITH Afghanistan-unrest-Canada SCENE by Mike Patterson

(FILES) In this picture taken on June 8, 2010, a Canadian Task Force Kandahar soldier (R) adjusts his beret before a memorial to a fallen comrade, killed during a patrol when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was set off during a patrol, during a service at Camp Nathan Smith in Kandahar. Canada's footprint in the war-torn nation consists of a brigade-sized unit south and west of Kandahar city in Dand, Daman and Panjwaii districts.

Its entire force of 2,800 troops will leave Afghanistan next year, after eight years spent routing insurgents as part of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force. AFP PHOTO/ED JONES/FILES
