INDONESIA-FORESTRY-WARMING-SPECIES-COMPANY-SINARMAS
In this photograph taken on August 5, 2010 during an aerial inspection organized by Greenpeace, two excavators with the second vehicle including its engine compartment and operators cabin are submerged in a logged over peat land located at the pulp wood concession site of PT. Bina Duta Laksana in Kerumutan area in Riau province on Sumatra island. According to Greenpeace, the PT. Bina Duta Laksana is affiliated with Asia Pulp and Paper (APP). In a July 6, 2010 Greenpeace report, the environmental group accused APP, a Sinar Mas subsidiary, of rampant destruction of Indonesia's rainforests and carbon-rich peatlands spewing carbon into the atmosphere and driving species to extinction in the Southeast Asian archipelago. APP sustainability director Aida Greenbury rejected the report. Sinar Mas and APP insist they are committed to sustainability. AFP PHOTO / ROMEO GACAD
