BRITAIN-SAFRICA-BANKING-COMPANY-TAKEOVER-HSBC-NEDBANK

HSBC revealed today that it is in talks with insurer Old Mutual over the purchase of a majority stake in Nedbank group limited, South Africa's fourth largest banking group by total assets. Old has also revealed that it has received a proposal from HSBC to buy up to70% of Nedbank shares, but did not reav the price.
