NEW YORK - AUGUST 24: The Empire State Building is viewed from the observation deck at Rockefeller Center on August 24, 2010 in New York City. A proposed tower on 34th Street would stand only 900 feet away from the iconic Empire State Building if it were to be completed. The new tower, which would be built at 15 Penn Plaza, has drawn criticism from the owners of the 102-storey Empire State Building, who say that at its current proposed height it would be just 34 feet shorter than the Empire State building and would severely alter the view of the Manhattan skyline. Standing at 1,250 feet at the 102nd floor, the Empire State building is currently the tallest building in New York.
