US-ATLANTIC-WEATHER-HURRICANE

Supervisor John Comstock who oversees several "Duck Thru" food stores tapes off the drive-way because of the destroyed roof of his gas station in Nags Head, part of the Outer Banks of North Carolina, September 3, 2010 after Hurricane Earl. Hurricane Earl dealt a glancing blow to North Carolina overnight and into Friday, lashing the coast with heavy winds and horizontal rain as the huge but weakening storm triggered warnings clear up to Canada. However, major swells were rolling along much of the US eastern seaboard, as communities from Virginia up to Maine braced for hurricane winds which had diminished only slightly, to 105 miles (170 kilometers) per hour, or category two strength, according to the Miami-based National Hurricane Center.AFP Photo/Paul J.
