FRANCE-TRANSPORTS-PENSION-STRIKE
(FromR) PS spokesman Benoit Hamon, Seine Saint-Denis general council President Michel Bartolone, France's opposition Socialist Party (PS) leader Martine Aubry, Paris Deputy Mayor Anne Hidalgo, MP Francois Lamy, and national secretary for communication David Assouline, hold a socialist banner as they demonstrate on September 7, 2010 in Paris, during a one-day national strike action against a government pension reform bill. Strikes broke out in France for 24 hours as unions geared up for a nationwide general stoppage to protest against President Nicolas Sarkozy's plans to raise the minimum retirement age from 60 to 62.
