FRANCE-PREHISTORY-SCIENCE-HERITAGE-LASCAUX
A picture taken on July 25, 2008 shows one of the world-famous prehistoric painting in the Lascaux Cave, near the village of Montignac, southwestern France. For the 70th anniversary of its discovery, French President Nicolas Sarkozy is expected to take part on September 12, 2010 to the international comity for its preservation, worried by patches of black fungus threatening the cave. The site is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1979 and closed to the public in 1963 in order to preserve the art. AFP PHOTO / PIERRE ANDRIEU
