HAITI-UN-VOTE-QUAKE
French soldiers speak with Haitian people in Port-au-Prince on September 12, 2010 as part of a humanitarian mission after the January 12 earthquake measuring 7 on the open-ended Richter scale, killed 250,000 people. A United Nations report on the impoverished Caribbean state painted a desolate picture of Haiti's infrastructure, estimating that almost a quarter of the 230,000 buildings damaged, including about 150,000 houses, would have to be demolished. Presidential and legislative elections are to be held on November 28 and the report said "the electoral period may bring to the fore new threats to stability." AFP PHOTO PATRICE COPPEE
