CHILE-MINING-ACCIDENT

Picture taken on September 10, 2010 of the third drill used for oil exploration involved in "Plan C to rescue 33 miners trapped deep below ground in the San Jose mine, near Copiapo, 800 km north of Santiago, while its being assembled. The giant drill could bring the miners out much faster than the drills being used in "Plans A" and "B", while Chilean authorities on September 13, 2010 ruled out as too risky a "Plan D" to dig a fourth rescue shaft for 33 trapped miners who hope to be rescued by Christmas. The miners became national heroes when they were found alive on August 22, 17 days after the cave-in. AFP PHOTO/STR
