Residents view the Hamparan Perak police station sealed off by investigators in Sumatra island on September 22, 2010 following an attack by suspected Islamic militants that left three police officers dead in apparent retaliation for the arrest and killing of members of their group. Twelve men surrounded the police station, and opened fire around 12:45 am on September 22 (1745 GMT), police spokesman Iskandar Hasan said. Police believe the assailants were linked to a group targeted in a series of raids on September 19, which resulted in the deaths of three alleged militants and the arrest of 15 others.
