INDIA-KASHMIR-UNREST
A Kashmiri municipal worker sweeps a deserted road during a strike in Srinagar on October 9, 2010. The hardline faction of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) issued a protest calendar for ten days from October 7-16 in the restive Muslim-majority Himalayan region of Kashmir. The region has been wracked by demonstrations since June 11 after a police tear gas shell killed a 17-year old student. Since then a total of 110 protesters and bystanders have been killed.
