CHILE-MINING-ACCIDENT-RESCUE

Miners Florencio Avalos and Mario Sepulveda, the first two to be brought to the surface of the San Jose mine, are put into an ambulace after arriving in a helicopter in Copiapo, some 800 km north of Santiago, to be taken to hospital on October 13, 2010. The first of 33 men trapped underground in Chile for 10 weeks triumphantly returned to the surface in a landmark rescue operation Wednesday, triggering nationwide celebrations and media mayhem for their relieved families.
