SPAIN-US-BRITAIN-MEDIA-COMPANY-ACQUISITION

(FILES) This photo taken on September 3, 2010 shows US-German investor Nicolas Berggruen attending a news conference in a Karstadt store in Berlin. Early next month Prisa, which owns Spanish daily El Pais and has a share in French newspaper Le Monde, will conclude a deal with a US cash shell set up by ultra-marathon-running Briton Martin Franklin and financier Nicolas Berggruen, known as the ''homeless billionaire'', which should help the Madrid-based empire recover from a perfect storm of debt. The debt now stands at €4.7 billion, or 12 times the company's market value. The Polanco family will lose majority control, with 70 per cent going to the new investors. AFP PHOTO / JOHANNES EISELE
