Marco Rubio, the Republican candidate for Senate in Florida, is a Hispanic rising star in US politics even though some find it tough to square his personal story and his very conservative views. Rubio, at 39, is on the young side for a plitician and often looks it: he has a boyish grin that he works busily on the campaign trail. But that smiley face can look mighty angry when he gets fired up taking shots at President Barack Obama, or defending the Tea Party, the fast-rising ultraconservative wing of the Republican side. Many Hispanics were aghast at his support for Arizona's tough immigration law. Passed in April, it has provisions that include requiring police to question a person about his or her immigration status if there is "reasonable suspicion" the person is in the United States illegally.
