US-ATTACKS-GUANTANAMO-JUSTICE-CANADA-GOVERNMENT
Omar Khadr (C) is comforted on the morning of the second day of his trial after pleading guilty. Comforting him are Canadian lawyer Dennis Edney and Military lawyer Lt. Col. Jon Jackson (R) on October 26, 2010 in Guantanamo Bay. US military tribunal began hearing testimony against Canadian former child soldier Omar Khadr, as the penalty phase of his war crimes trial got underway on October 26, 2010. Khadr, 24, who is being tried at the US naval base at Guantanamo Bay, pleaded guilty Monday before the military court to war crimes against US forces, in an arrangement with US prosecutors that will see him avoid a life sentence and possibly be returned to Canada.
