CHINA-ECONOMY-INFLATION-ELDERLY
An elderly woman pushes her cart filled with produce along a street in Beijing on November 22, 2010. The Chinese capital's population is aging, with the number of elderly residents expected to grow by 1 million in the next five years, according to state media reports, and the number of people requiring housing for the elderly likely to increase by 470,000 by 2015. China announced a further series of measures to reign in rising commodity prices as it steps up efforts to combat rapidly rising inflation, state media said on November 21 in reaction to rising consumer prices, fuelled by soaring food costs after severe summer flooding and more recent cold snaps hit crop yields.
