NIGERIA-ICOAST-POLITICS-CRISIS-ECOWAS
Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan (L) speaks with his Burkinabe counterpart Blaise Compaore during a break on December 7, 2010, as they attend a special summit of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) heads of States on Ivory Coast's electoral crisis, under pressure to take action to help resolve the country's political standoff as fears of unrest intensify. Ivory Coast leaders were not invited to the summit of the 15-member, though the country is a member of the organisation. Leaders from Burkina Faso, Senegal, Mali, Liberia, Togo, Ghana and Nigeria has already issued a strongly worded statement on the crisis condemning incumbent leader Laurent Gbagbo and calling on him to accept results showing his rival Alassane Ouattara won presidential elections.
