PHILIPPINES-UNREST-COMMUNIST
New People's Army (NPA) guerrillas attend a ceremony to celebrate the 42nd founding anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines, at a remote village in the southern island of Mindanao on December 26, 2010. Philippine security forces and communist rebels began a Christmas ceasefire on December 16 ahead of the first formal peace talks in six years seeking to end the decades-old Maoist rebellion that has claimed thousands of lives. The Christmas ceasefire is intended to pave the way for the resumption of peace talks between the government and the 5,000-strong communist rebel movement. AFP PHOTO
