Turkish police escort doctor Yusuf Sonmez (C) to a local court in Istanbul on January. 12, 2011. Sonmez was apprehended on January 12 in a raid on a luxury villa in Istanbul's Asian quarter on an Interpol warrant on suspicion of illegal organ transplant operations in Azerbaijan as well as in Kosovo. The charges against Sonmez, dubbed the "Turkish Frankenstein," revolve around the Medicus Clinic in Pristina, which was shut down in 2008 after a police probe was launched when a young Turkish citizen collapsed at the airport after having a kidney removed for a transplant to an Israeli citizen.
