ROMANIA-MOLDOVA-EU-SHENGEN
A Romanian family approaches a train crossing on a horse-drawn cart at the Ungheni border with Moldova on January 18, 2011. Romanian border police is tightening controls at the border with Moldova in order to fulfill requirements to enter the border-free Schengen zone in March 2011, but France and Germany have publicly opposed such a move. Bucharest insists that formerly Schengen enlargements were made only on the basis of technical criteria like the implementation of a secure border control system and warns against an "unfair change of the rules".
