NIGER-VOTE
People walk under a campaign poster of Hama Amadou, one of the candidates to the presidential elections in Niger, on January 25, 2011 in a street of Niger. The ruling junta has pushed for presidential elections on January 31 although many candidates have call for the vote to be put off citing poor organisation. Of the four main candidates in the race, three are members of the coalition of parties that in July signed a strategic alliance to win power, the Coordination of Democratic Forces for the Republic (CFDR). The CFDR contenders consist of former prime minister Mahamadou Issoufou, a longtime opponent of Tandja, ex-president Mahamane Ousmane, and Hama Amadou, a former premier in Tandja's regime.
