European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso (R) welcomes Romanian President Traian Basescu prior to a working dinner with Romania, Bulgaria and Visegrad (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) group leaders on the North-South energy interconnections on February 3, 2010 at the European Commission headquarters in Brussels. The North-South initiative will connect and integrate the power sources of the Baltic, Adriatic and Black Seas, ensure the free and diversified flow of energy within Central and Eastern Europe and thus enhance the economic security of the region and of the Union as a whole.
