INDIA-KASHMIR-UNREST
Kashmiri senior separatist leader Shabir Shah speaks at a press conference in Srinagar on February 23, 2011 asking India to learn lessons from the uprisings across the Middle East and North Africa. Shah is one of the prominent figures seeking independence of Kashmir from India to make it an independent, sovereign country part of Pakistan. Indian Kashmir has been in the grip of a two-decade insurgency against New Delhi's rule that has left more than 47,000 people dead, whilst seperatists put the toll twice as high.
