US-ARCHEOLOGY-MIAMI CIRCLE
TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY JUAN CASTRO
Top view taken February 23, 2011 of the “Miami Circle” (bottom), discovered in 1998, during a building demolition, in Brickell Arqueological Park, Miami, USA. Archaeologists uncovered at the site a mysterious 38-foot circular feature at the mouth of Miami River, with old pottery, shell tools and food remains, associated with the Tequesta Indians, one of the first Native American groups encountered by the Spanish colonialist. Scientific studies in the area reflected that Tequesta Indians had one of their main village in the area and the site was 2,000 years old.
