A former member of the association financing Balladur's presidential campaign in 1995, Alexandre Galdin, announced on March 6, 2011 in the French daily newspaper Le Parisien, that "every three days or so, I would deposit cash in a briefcase at the Credit du Nord bank", adding he did not know the source of the money. Galdin was heard on February 25 by French judge Renaud Van Ruymbeke as a witness in the inquiry into the 2002 bomb attack in Pakistan, which killed 11 French engineers and at least three Pakistanis.
