Afghan President Hamid Karzai gestures as he departs after addressing a gathering of women to mark International Women's Day at Amani High School in Kabul on March 8, 2011. Karzai joked that he is "oppressed" by his wife during his speech. "I am oppressed at home. You can ask!," he said jockingly to a mainly female audience. He used the word "oppressed" with a possible meaning that he is obident and over powered by his wife contrary to the tradition in the male dominated Afghan society where men always lead the family and make decisions for women in all walks of life.
