An earthquake measuring 8.9 on the Richter scale has hit the northeast coast of Japan causing tsunami alerts throughout the Pacific Ocean. Thousands along the coast are evacuating their homes in Hawaii as the state prepares for tsunami waves. Pirkle lives on the beach in Kailua and is parked on high ground with other drivers to remain safe from impending tsunami.
