French soldiers hold French flags in front of the coffin of World War I soldier Thomas Lawless is seen on March 15, 2011 at the Canadian military cemetary La Chaudiere in Vimy, Northern France as his nieces Mine Ui Chribin (2ndR) and Una Ni Chribin (C) and Arlene King (R) of the Canadian old fighters ministry attend his burial ceremony. His body was found in 2003 on a working site in Avion where the WWI battle of Vimy Ridge, a costly victory for Canada, took place. A total of 3,598 Canadian troops were killed and 7,004 were wounded over four days of fighting as they slowly took control of the escarpment, which lies near the town of Arras in northern France.
