(FILES) Photo taken on September 15, 1988, shows Nigerian afro-beat singer and musician Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, who died on August 2, 1997. As a saxophonist, pianist, and singer, Fela created the "afro-beat" genre by mixing soul, jazz and traditional African rhythms. The spirit of Fela Kuti has come alive recently as preparations are underway for a six day performance of "Fela! A broadway play in Lagos", at a hotel in Lagos. AFP PHOTO
