US Marine TJ Ruyle from from Border Adviser Team (BAT) 2nd Marine Division (Forward) shows a opium poppy scoring tool which he seized from a farmer at Maranjan village, Helmand province, on April 25, 2011 during a patrol with his team and Afghanistan National Police. Nearly a decade into the war in Afghanistan, opium poppies are still the major crop for many farmers and a big source of income for the Taliban despite expensive efforts to stamp out cultivation.
