FRANCE-BRITAIN-BELGIUM-NETHERLANDS-RAIL-THEFT-METALS
French rail firm SNCF employees work on April 26, 2011 next to the long high speed rail line, in the French northern city of Oignies following the theft overnight of copper cabling from French train tracks. The theft of around 800 metres (875 yards) of signalling cable caused delays to high-speed TGV and Thalys trains as well as Eurostar trains under the Channel. The theft of railway signalling cables has become increasingly frequent and profitable as world prices for metals, including copper, skyrocket. AFP PHOTO PHILIPPE HUGUEN
