GUATEMALA-HUMAN RIGHTS-GERARDI-ANNIVERSARY
Catholic nuns take part in a march within the commemoration of the 13th anniversary of Monsignor Juan Jose Gerardi's assassination in Guatemala City on April 26, 2011. Gerardi was bludgeoned to death in the garage of his home on April 26, 1998, two days after publishing the Human Rights report "Guatemala: Nunca Mas". This report carried statements from thousands of witnesses and victims of repression during the Civil War (1960-1996) and placed the blame for the vast majority of the violations on the government and the army.
