JAPAN-QUAKE-DISASTER
In a picture taken on April 28, 2011 an evacuee effected by the March 11 tsunami and earthquake hangs washing where she lives at a shelter in Yamada, Iwate prefecture. The Japanese government submitted a 49 billion USD budget to parliament April 28 to help fund reconstruction after a deadly earthquake and tsunami. The 9.0-magnitude earthquake and tsunami on March 11 left nearly 26,000 killed or missing and crippled a nuclear power plant, which has been releasing high levels of radioactive materials into the environment.
