NKOREA-RIGHTS-PRISON-AMNESTY

A handout photo released on May 4, 2011 shows a satelite image commissioned to Digitalglobe by Amnesty International taken on on April 7, 2011 and showing the area of Political Prison Camp 15 (PPC15) in central North Korea taken. According to Amnesty International in PPC 15 (Yodok) several buildings have been added or removed compared to similar images dated 2002. In Area 1, roughly 15 new guard houses have been added. Many new agricultural fields, mostly small, are visible in the 2011 image. A cluster of buildings that were labeled as flour mills in the Hidden Gulag report dated 2002 have been removed from Area 3. Some structures and a grazing area for goats and lambs have also been removed from Area 7. Finally, agricultural development in Area 9, labeled as a poppy farm in the report, has continued and possibly increased since 2002.
