BELGIUM-CRIME-CHILD-PROTEST
A woman holds the pictures of Julie and Melissa, two victims of one of Europe's most infamous child killers, Marc Dutroux, during a protest on May 10, 2011 against the early release of his accomplice and ex-wife, Michelle Martin, in front of the Palace of Justice in Brussels. Referring to a controversial court decision on May 9 to free Martin halfway through a 30-year term, Mons prosecutor Claude Michaux said on May 10 there were "no grounds" to appeal the ruling before the country's highest appeals court. Dutroux was jailed for life in June 2004 for the kidnap and rape of six young girls and teenagers in the mid-1990s, four of whom died.
