HONG KONG-ECONOMY-PROPERTY
Cubicle home resident surname Lau sits in the room she shares with two other family members, in Hong Kong on May 20, 2011. Amid rising inflation many cage or cubicle home dwellers risk being subjected to rent increases despite paying a similar price per square foot as some of the city's luxury apartments. Inhabitants of the tiny units, usually around 60 square feet in size and costing around 3000 Hong Kong dollars (385 USD) for a three person family, can face waiting times of between five and ten years for public housing to become available during which time rental hikes of as much as 20 percent per year are not uncommon.
