GERMANY-SPAIN-FOOD-DISEASE-HEALTH
Helge Karch, director of the Hygiene Institute at Muenster's University Clinic, addresses a press conference on May 31, 2011 in Muenster, western Germany. The insititute announced it had put together a test to quickly identify people infected with the so-called Shiga toxin-producing E. coli. German authorities battled to stop the spread of a killer bacteria traced to imported cucumbers that has killed at least 16 people, including one outside Germany. Several European countries banned Spanish vegetables -- believed to be responsible for at least some of the contamination -- sparking a diplomatic spat with Madrid. AFP PHOTO BARTEK WRZESNIOWSKI
