ESTONIA-MUSIC-CHOIR
Youth forming a choir of 22 239 young singers perform on July 1, 2011 in the Estonian capital Tallinn, opening the three day youth song and dance festival, a tradition launched in Estonia in 1869.
The festival is also attended by a 710-member youth symphony orchestra, 1190-member youth big brass band and 7554 folk dancers, with youngest singers being five years old. Originally held once every fifth year since 1869, the event since 1961 runs twice every fifth year and marks resistance under nearly 50 years of Soviet occupation that ended in August 1991.
