South African Airways Chairperson Cheryl Carolus delivers a speech before unveiling the first of its jets emblazoned with the Nelson Mandela Day logo, ahead of the anti-apartheid icon's 93rd birthday, on July 4, 2011 at the O.R. Tambo airport of Johannesburg. The United Nations has recognised this July 18 as Mandela Day, an event meant to encourage people to take responsibility to make the world a better place one small step at a time. On July 18, the public is asked to give 67 minutes of their time for volunteer work, one minute for each year Mandela devoted to the struggle for justice in South Africa.
