RUSSIA-MEDVEDEV-BEER-ACTIVISTS
A member of an Internet community supporting Russia's President Dmitry Medvedev holds a pail of beer as she takes part in a performance discouraging Russian youngsters from drinking alcohol in public places, in central Moscow, on August 4, 2011. The activists are promoting a policy Medvedev enacted in July 2011 which officially classifies beer as an alcoholic beverage to fight beer alcoholism and to control the sale of the drink, which before had been considered as foodstuff containing less than 10 percent alcohol, according to local media. The group of women called "Medvedev Girls" staged the scantily-clad rally in an apparent response to a promises by a rival group to "rip it off" for Prime Minister Vladimir Putin ahead of 2012 polls.
