The legendary US comedian Lewis, has ended a more than 50-year run as the national chairman of the Muscular Dystrophy Association(MDA), for which he has helped raise millions of dollars to fight the disease, the group said. The 85-year-old Lewis also will not appear in this year's Labor Day telethon, the nonprofit group's main annual fundraiser and a television tradition that is broadcast live and seen each year by 40 million people. "Jerry Lewis is a world-class humanitarian and we're forever grateful to him for his more than half century of generous service to MDA," the chairman of the group's board of directors, R.
