AFGHANISTAN-UNREST-MEDEVAC
A wounded US army soldier is transported into a frontline ambulance (FLA) car after being airlifted by a Medivac helicopter of the 159th Brigade Task Force Thunder to the Kandahar airbase on August 15, 2011. The soldier lost his right leg after an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded. The Taliban insurgency's increasing use of home-made bombs have left many NATO force victims, as part of their 10-year campaign to evict the mainly US foreign troops who ousted them from power in the 2001 invasion.
