US-TRANSPORTATION-ELECTRIC CARS-MOBILE ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING
John Nielsen of the American Automobile Association (AAA) stars the electric charge as he demonstrates charging a Nissan Leaf electric car from an AAA roadside assistance truck at the unveiling of North America's first roadside assistance trucks capable of charging electric vehicles in Los Angeles, California August 23, 2011. The truck, which will also be able to provide traditional roadside assistance to gasoline powered vehicles, will be deployed in a pilot program in six US metropolitan areas across the US including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Tampa Bay, Florida, Portland, Oregon and Knoxville Tennesse. The first Nisan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt were delivered to US customers in December 2010 and manufacturers project there will be 1.2 million electricle vehicles on US roads by 2015.
