ITALY-LIBYA-CONFLICT-NTC-ASSETS-DIPLOMACY
Head of Libya's rebel National Transitional Council (NTC ) Mahmud Jibril, looks on during a news conference in Milan on August 25, 2011, ahead of a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi which aims at securing Italian business interests in post-conflict Libya. Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said that Italy was ready to unfreeze up to 350 million euros of Libyan assets after talks with the rebel National Transitional Council leader. Jibril, who said he had also asked the French Premier Nicholas Sarkozy for his help on August 24, warned that the "biggest disabling element" for the NTC "would be the failure to deliver services and salaries" as soon as possible.
